Description
The spreading of Buddhism in Nusantara is said to be along inline with the influence of Indian culture. No written data is available about the coming of indian culture in Nusantara, and who brought it as well. Were they the Buddhist monks who travelled along with the Indian merchants, the merchants themselves, or the people of Nusantara who did trading activities with people of India?

Religion is one facet of culture. And from the Indian culture, we know there are two religions, aand they are Hindu and Buddhism. From 5th-6th century inscriptions we know that the oldest religion in Nusantara was Hindu, the Vaisnava respectively. It was confirmed by Fa-hsien - a Buddhist monk from China - who wrote in his diary that there were very few Buddhist people living Ye-po-ti (Java) but brahmins and people with worse religion were in abundant.
