To support the researches mentioned above, compilation of historical sources and exploration of archaeological legacies must be continuously carried on. Studies based on the two sources must be constantly conducted as well. Similarly, research documens, articles, books, and other written sources of researchers attempting to reveal the past must be compiled. This step is important to take in order for researchers to understand the extent of the previous studies. It also facilitates the general public to find reading sources to advance their knowledge.
Theregfore, the publication of this book titled " Banten from the 15 th to 21 st Century: Glorious Achievements, Upcoming Accomplishments" must be heartily welcomed. The book compiling the works of the late Uka Tjandrasasmita-- a pioneer of islamic archaeological studies-- is expected to serve as a source of knowledge on Banten's civilization in the past. In addition, Uka Tjandrasasmita-- the former director of the Ministry of Education and Culture--showed advanced efforts and benefits to learn about the past for today and the future.
